Reframe & Reset Your Career Podcast

Episode 26. Talking Careers – Insights From The First Year Of The Show – Tammy Gooler Loeb & Harsha Boralessa

Episode 26 is slightly different in format as it marks the 1-year anniversary of the show. Tammy, who hosts the “Work from the Inside Out” podcast, kindly agreed to co-host the show. We discuss and celebrate some of the insights and lessons that have been shared by the guests on Reframe & Reset Your Career. I first met Tammy in late 2020 to chat about podcasting and her encouragement gave me the final push to launch my own podcast and a YouTube channel just a few months later, thanks Tammy!

In this episode, we will learn about:

How playing sport shaped my interest in performance development;

Managing failure;

My interest in neuroscience and how this inspired the podcast;

Starting the podcast and how Tammy’s encouragement helped overcome limiting beliefs;

Growth Mindset;

Luck and creating opportunities for yourself by being curious;

Defining what success means from each of our perspectives;

Empowering yourself and taking ownership of your career development;

Adaptability and being creative to deal with uncertainty;

Trying small experiments to test potential new areas for work;

Being resilient and responding to failure;

Focus on what you can control; and

The “Stockdale Paradox” as described by Jim Collins and reframing difficult situations.

Her practical knowledge and experience in organizational and leadership development, workplace communications, and change management builds a relatable relationship with clients striving for higher performance results.

Tammy has written a book also titled: Work from the Inside Out: Break Through Nine Common Obstacles and Design a Career that Fulfills You, which will be published on 25th January. The book includes 22 real-life stories that illustrate the hurdles that can hold you back, offering successful strategies and reflective activities that will move your thinking and actions toward new possibilities.

Tammy told me: “We’re not trying to tell people think this way, or think that way. What we’re saying is just stop and think, just stop and think … Do you have what you want? Is it working for you? If not, be true to yourself. Reframe, reset what you need to, there is not one definition of success. You may have a definition of success, or a definition of how you should be going about what you want to achieve all these years of your life, then you wake up one day and you say this isn’t what I want at all and so you can change it if you want”.
