Setting clear milestones and objectives with your boss when starting a new job,

Dealing with a difficult boss or co-worker.

Jenny is a long-time recruiter, job search strategist, and the founder and CEO of the internationally recognized career website, JobJenny.com. She also partners with LinkedIn in developing career-focused video courses for their LinkedIn Learning platform.

Through all of her work, Jenny aims to provide exceptional, accessible, and easy-to-act-upon advice that enables people to thrive in their careers. A Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW), ferocious Scrabble player, and mean margarita maker, Jenny lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband, three kids, and rescue dog Daisy.

Her book “Do This, Not That: Career” was recently published and is a great read!

Jenny told me: “We recruiters can sense when somebody’s panicked and it’s just unfortunately not going to be to your advantage … so I would say fundamental to moving forward as a job seeker or if you’re trying to grow or change your career is thinking through, how can I get my head straight, how can I be at my best? … I will say that there’s not a simple answer and I don’t like it when people project that it is “just go do this, everything will be great” … it is challenging for a lot of people but coming from the recruiter’s perspective, I would say it will absolutely benefit you if you get your mindset in a decent place as you go forward”.
